Herman Jeurissen (*1952) is Professor of Horn at the Amsterdam Conservatory, the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg. He was principal horn in the Residentie Orchestra, The Hague for 35 years, and has played as a soloist and chamber musician all over the world. He has also been active as a musicologist, completing the reconstruction of unfinished Mozart horn concertos as well as many other fascinating projects. During his entire career he has been active in the field of coaching and training young talent. For this purpose he has written a horn method, numerous arrangements, music for workshops and joyful encores. Jeurissen’s Wagner transcriptions for horn and for brass ensemble are performed worldwide and have frequently been recorded (by the Horns of the Berlin Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra Brass, German Horn Ensemble, Neos Brass, Ensemble Capricorno and many others). The new CD ‘Paraphrases‘ offers a selection of his arrangements of his favourite works from the German Romantic repertoire.
